Peter Weston -- Special Guest

A British Fan of All Trades, Peter's many and varied activities include founding the longest-lived fan group in the U.K., editing the Andromeda series of original anthologies, chairing the Seacon '79 Worldcon, and editing Speculation.

Rick Berry -- Official Artist

A multiple award winner, Rick Berry is an accomplished painter and pioneering digital artist. As well as illustrating book covers, games and comics, he contributed special effects to the 1995 film Johnny Mnemonic. He was Artist GoH at the 1996 World Fantasy Convention and won Best of Show at last year's Boskone.

Jordin Kare -- Featured Filker

Jordin, author of "Fire in the Sky" and "Heart of the Apple Lisa" among many others, first encountered filking at Boskone XII. We're delighted to help him celebrate his 25th anniversary in the field. (Yes, he is a Rocket Scientist.)

Boskone 37 Highlights

Programming

Boskone is justifiably renowned for its programming, which focuses on science fiction, fantasy, science fact, education, fandom, and a myriad of related subjects. Nearly 100 writers, publishers, artists, editors, art directors, scientists, and fans are expected to participate in panel discussions, presentations, demonstrations, readings, signings, and kaffeeklatsches.

Children's Programming

This year's Dragonslair (for children 6 to 12) will give Boskone's young members a chance to learn from the pros, and enjoy the convention in structured play--radio plays, art activities, and story telling and more.

Anime Programming

Our anime sensei have been busy for months putting together a list of the new, the chic, the fun, and the special of anime, and also Chinese cinema specialties. The room and equipment have been upgraded from last Boskone.

Dealers' Room

Books, books, books are the hallmark of a Boskone Dealers' Room, but you'll also find jewelry, sculpture, art, toys, cards, and other joys to tempt your checkbooks. We will be offering several new titles--including the GoH book, Moon Dogs--at the NESFA table.

Art Show

This year's Art Show will showcase works by Official Artist Rick Berry, as well as more than 50 other artists from New England and beyond. Our Dragonslair artists' works will be prominently displayed.

Filking

Boskone will once again have a lively filk program, including Featured Filker Jordin Kare. There will be concert sets by local and visiting performers, workshops, sing-alongs, and a Theme Concert (theme TBA) by advance sign-up.

FANAC Fan History Project

Be part of the FANAC Fan History Project (FHP), dedicated to preserving our science fiction and fannish heritage and--making this material available to the present day fan. Check out our web site at http://fanac.org. There are fannish reference works and bibliographies, hundreds of fanzines and thousands of photographs on the web site. You may even find your own picture there!

We will be at Boskone to archive our past. We'll have a scanning station to record photos, and a small display to tell you more about us. If you have some unusual items, we'll try to photograph or record them at the convention. If you have any photos, fanzines, publications, or other memorabilia that you might be interested in donating to the Fan History Project collection, contact Joe Siclari at jsiclari@gate.net or talk with him at Boskone. All donations are tax-deductible.

Boskone Banquet (and after-dinner event)

Based upon last year's positive response, this year's Boskone Banquet features a buffet menu of Southern specialties, just perfect for a chilly February evening. At $32 for all-you-care-to-eat, it is an economical treat, too. Please ask us about vegetarian, and other dietary restrictions. Banquet tickets may be purchased through this mailing (see the other side). Banquet attendees have reserved seats for the after-dinner events. We sold out last year before the convention started; buy early--we can't guarantee tickets will be available at the convention. Banquet tickets not picked up by noon Saturday are subject to re-sale.
