Connie Willis - Guest of Honor
Connie Willis, multiple Hugo- and Nebula-award winner, scintillates in person as much as she fascinates in writing. At Boskone 36, she’ll meet with her fans, join in a variety of panel discussions, and reprise her world-class toastmaster abilities.
Stephen Youll - Official Artist
UK-native Stephen Youll is a master of color and the imagination, and his work graces book covers and trading cards alike. In addition to participating in panel discussions on Art and SF, look for Stephen’s vivid art, showcased in the Boskone 36 Art Show.
Teddy Harvia
Diana Thayer - Special Guests
Texans Teddy Harvia (aka David Thayer) and Diana Thayer are well known in fannish circles for their convention running in the Lone Star state. Teddy’s delightful cartoons (featured in this Progress Report) netted him Hugo awards for fan art in 1991 and 1995.
Mary Ellen Wessels
Ed Stauff - Featured Filkers
New Hampshire-ites Mary Ellen Wessels and Ed Stauff delight audiences with their sound, their droll humor, and their love of craft. Their performances will be a convention high point.
Boskone 36 Pre-registration $35 until Jan. 15, 1999
Boskone is justifiably renowned for its programming, which focuses on science fiction, fantasy, science fact, education, fandom, and a myriad of related subjects. Nearly 100 writers, publishers, artists, editors, art directors, scientists, and fans are expected to participate in panel discussions, presentations, demonstrations, readings, signings and kaffeeklatsches.
This year’s Dragonslair (for children 6-12) will give Boskone’s young members a chance to learn from the pros, and enjoy the convention in structured play (radio plays, art activities and story telling). Don’t forget the Spooky Story Hour, each evening at 9 p.m.
Our anime gurus have been busy for months putting together a list of the new, the chic, the fun and the special of anime, including Disney’s latest and Chinese cinema specialties.
Meet the Pros in our Alien Casino, dance and play whist in the Regency Tea, and don’t forget special slide shows by our Official Artist and Special Guests.
This year’s Art Show will showcase works by Official Artist Stephen Youll, as well as more than 50 other artists from New England and beyond. Our Dragonslair artists’ work will also be prominently displayed.
Books, books, books are the hallmark of a Boskone Dealers’ Room, but you’ll also find jewelry, sculpture, art works, games, cards, and other joys to tempt your checkbook.
