Dickson! is the L.A.con II, 1984 World Science Fiction Convention commemorative book, a collection of stories and an essay by Guest of Honor Gordon R. Dickson. Some of the items contained herein are: "The Childe Cycle: Status 1984", an update of a 1979 essay from the SFWA Bulletin; "The Law-Twister Shorty", a story set on the planet of the ursine Dilbians; "Steel Brother", a classic Dickson piece; "Out of the Darkness", a sample of the author's mystery stories; and more. Also included is a special introduction by Poul Anderson, Gordon Dickson's long-time friend and collaborator. Story introductions by Sandra Miesel.

Gordon R. Dickson
Gordon Rupert Dickson was born November 1, 1923, in Edmonton, Alberta, but spent most of his life in the Minneapolis area. He died on January 31, 2001. He took his B.A. degree in creative writing at the University of Minnesota in 1950, then turned full-time writer, which he remained throughout his life. His first SF sale in 1950 was followed by more than 200 others, including some 40 novels. The most successful of these works belong to a projected 12-volume epic called the Childe Cycle. Among Dickson's SF awards are three Hugos and a Nebula. He served as President of the Science Fiction Writers of America (1969-1971) and was chosen Professional Guest of Honor at L.A.con II, the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention. —Sandra Miesel
