Reynolds died a few weeks before Boskone 20 and the publication of this book.

Compounded Interests was published to commemorate Mack Reynolds appearance as Guest of Honor at Boskone XX. Contained within are eleven stories and one poem that cover the spectrum of his long and illustrious career. At one end is his first sold story, "Last Warning", making its first return to print since initial publication. At the other is his latest work, "Idealist", written expressly for this volume. Among others included are: "Compounded Interest", a classic time-travel tale, and one of his most popular stories; "Pacifist", an anti-war story that has become his most controversial piece; "Psi Assassin", a novella from the popular Section G series; "Depression or Bust", a tongue in cheek look at the cause of economic swings in our capitalistic society; plus many other stories, seeing their book publication debut.

Mack Reynolds

Mack Reynolds was born Dallas McCord Reynolds in Corcoran, California on November 11, 1917. He was a science fiction reader long before becoming a writer. His first science fiction story was published in 1950. His first novel, The Case of the Little Green Men, a mystery set at a science fiction convention, was published a year later. A well-known writer of the Fifties and Sixties, he was voted most popular author by the readers of Galaxy. An avowed "militant radical", many of his works deal with speculative socio-economic and political issues. He has resided chiefly in Mexico since the early Fifties, but spent many years traveling and living in Europe, Africa and the Eastern block countries, including Russia. These travels provided the background for a host of tales set in the extrapolated future of various societies.
