Fred Lerner is a librarian, bibliographer, and historian. His first book, Modern Science Fiction and the American Literary Community, is a study of SF's changing reputation in America. The Story of Libraries traces the history of libraries from the invention of writing to the present day. IUn his day job he produces the PILOTS Database, an index to the literature of posttraumatic stress disorder.
