A book review by Elisabeth Carey

Tiffany Aching, nine years old, finds herself the sole defense of Discworld's Chalk country against an invasion by the elf Queen and her evil servants. Armed only with a frying pan, common sense, and a talking frog loaned to her by a visiting witch, Miss Tick, Tiffany battles dogs with flaming eyes and razors for teeth, becomes temporary kelda of the local tribe of Nac Mac Feegle--the Wee Free Men, and invades Fairyland to rescue her kidnapped brother, and generally confounds the expectations of Miss Tick, who told her to do nothing while she, Miss Tick, went and fetched witchly help sufficient to fight off the elfish invasion.

Great fun.
